Handling
Do not touch the image itself, try to hold it by the edges. Paper works tend to scratch when being handled. When handcuffing an image, it is essential that your hands are clean and dry. Oil from your hands can stick to the image and cause stains later. Be careful not to get any debris in the image when you lift it up. It is best to use cotton gloves when handcuffing an image.
The environment
I strongly advise against hanging a picture in direct sunlight as it greatly reduces the lifespan of the colors in the picture. Paper pictures can be framed using UV glass to protect them from sunlight. Extreme heat and humidity changes can also affect the durability of the pictures. Canvas pictures come with a coating that protects them from scratches, but be careful not to expose them to direct sunlight.
