Olafsson was born in Reykjavik in January 1961. Only one year old he moved to the east coast to F\u00e1skr\u00fa\u00f0sfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur with his parents and 5 siblings.\nThere he grew up amid a powerful nature embraced by mountains, deep valleys and abundant wildlife.\nOlafsson studied at the Icelandic School of Art and Crafts in Reykjavik from 1977 to 1981. Now the school is called the Iceland Academy of the Arts. From there he graduated from the Department of Painting.\nOlafsson has held several exhibitions both at home and abroad. These include the Kjarvalsstadir 1981 exhibition. The solo exhibition in the Deep, the Horni\u00f0, 1982, in F\u00e1skr\u00fa\u00f0sfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur, 1984, 2007 and 2015. R\u00fadolf<\/a><\/h4>\n

The reindeer that live in Iceland were originally imported here from Finnmark in Norway in the year 1787. They now only inhabit the east fjords of Iceland and live in the highlands around there. Reindeer, just as the fox, thrive in cold climates and therefor this \u201cfrozen\u201d island so far in the north suits them perfectly. They are beautiful and graceful herding animals and often great herds can be spotted in Fagridalur (beautiful valley) and even sometimes down by some of the small towns in the east fjords. Every year, around 1000 reindeers are hunted and their meat is considered a great delicacy. Their hide is also used for all kinds of clothing, mostly sold to tourists. The reindeer\u2019s most known act is flying Santa Clause\u2019s sleigh and Rudolf is without a doubt one of the most famous animal for his role there.<\/p>\n
